"Recording a solo. I did it at a different studio from the one I usually do it at and with different recording staff. And a bit far from the usual studio. The studio has sort of a south seas resort feel to it so I suggested sort of relaxed pace instead of the 2-3 songs a day I usually record. We started at 4 in the afternoon and went to 12 midnight eating a box lunch somewhere in there. It reminded me of how 10 years ago we could really take it easy like this.

My solo was written by Takacha, a 23 year old guy who just moved from his indie label to a major label for debut in July. We got 3 songs from him for my solo. I chose just 1 and left the other 2 but then there weren't enough songs so we put one more in and the other got put in as a B-side so in the end, all his songs got used. That Takacha does it all, the lyrics, chorus and composing. His life is totally different now as he used to work construction until last December. He's going all the way now. It's the Japanese dream".
